So it’s no secret that I somewhat dislike the music of Rebecca Black. No, I do not hate the girl herself, I more than made my point clear on people hating a 13-year-old girl because of some crappy music video quite clear in a previous Screen Daze article.  Since covering her second single, ‘My Moment’, I more or less came to the decision that Rebecca Black was more or less just a bad singer. I in fact made the point that “Rebecca Black seems to be recording more serious songs, all that hate and controversy will soon go away.  People became interested because of how bad the song was, once the songs start becoming more mediocre, there’s nothing left to support them.” I lost interest in the singer even after she released her 3rd single, ‘Person of Interest’, as it was exactly what I thought; mediocre at best.

So, you may be wondering, why am I suddenly writing about her again. What has pulled me back into writing about this YouTube sensation (be it for good or bad). Well, her 4th single, “Sing It” is what, because this one definitely warrants a mention. Continue reading →

I originally began doing so mainly because my job as Arts Editor entailed me to, but I can say with full certainty that whether or not I continue on as the Arts Editor for The Bradford Student or not, I will continue supporting the amazing talent that the Bradford University Society of Operettas and Musicals by turning up to every future concert whilst I’m here, also making sure that it still gets it’s fair amount of coverage. So with the festival finished, I’ve had time to digest everything that I watched over those 11 days. So I’ve thought about everything and will bring you my favourite picks from a range of different categories. I will also give certain special mentions to features that I feel are worth it, even if they do not get top prize.

So here it is. Day 11. Journeys end… or festivals end I guess. It’s a weird feeling really. For a lot of people, myself included, The National Media Museum is another home. It’s where we eat. It’s where we work. It’s were we relax and watch films and have fun. Although I miss sleeping full hours, I think I’m really going to miss coming here every day, and I think I’ll be counting the days to the 19th Bradford Animation Festival. Continue reading →
